About This Checklist

Most delays in a loan application come from missing paperwork. This checklist lists the documents lenders commonly ask for, so you can gather them once, before the application starts.

It covers PAYG employees and the self-employed, plus the loan, investment and expense records a debt recycling application often needs.

Requirements vary between lenders and change over time, so your broker confirms the final list. Moving lenders first? Our page on refinancing for debt recycling explains how that works.

What Is Inside

How To Use It

  1. Tick the income section that matches you: PAYG or self-employed.
  2. Work through ID, loans, investments, debts and expenses.
  3. Save each document as a PDF in one folder, named by type and date.
  4. Send the folder to your broker once, then add anything the lender requests.

Frequently Asked Questions

Many lenders assess a credit card at its full limit, because you could draw it at any time. A large unused limit can reduce how much you can borrow. Closing or reducing cards you do not need, before you apply, is one of the simplest ways to improve your position.

Not always. Requirements vary between lenders and between application types. Recycling existing debt through a simple loan variation often needs less than a refinance or an equity release, which is assessed in full. Your broker confirms the final list for your application.

Two years of tax returns and financial statements is common, and some lenders consider one year in certain cases. Lenders treat add-backs and the most recent year differently, so the same returns can produce different borrowing figures at different lenders.
